Our How to Get Started With GTA V RP Guide will walk you through what you'll need to install and how to connect to your first server! If you've been watching streamers role playing recently and would like to give it a shot, be sure to keep reading!
GTA V RP has picked up again with many big time streamers flocking to the game. While RP seems relatively new, it has been around for a long time. Lirik, in particular, used to play it quite often in ARMA years ago, and the type of play eventually jumped to GTA.
How to Start Up GTA V RP
First, you need GTA V installed on your computer. You can have it on Steam or the Rockstar Social Club, either will work. GTA V has been pretty cheap lately, and you should be able to pick up on sale if you wait for it.
The next step is to install FiveM (it's completely free). Go to their website, click Download client, and save it to your computer. Place the FiveM .exe file wherever you'd like it to install (it installs in place). You will then need to select the folder containing Grand Theft Auto V. If you used Rockstar, then it will likely be in your C: Drive, Program Files, and in the Rockstar Games folder. If you have it via Steam, then it'll commonly be in C: Drive, Program Files, steamapps, and then in the common folder.
These are just the common spots, but you might have custom folders or drives. Once you find it, it will start to install and might need to update the game cache. Finally, it will ask you to login to your Rockstar Social Club account.
Once it has installed it should start up automatically. You'll be able to join a bunch of servers. You can browse the servers here. Some servers don't require an application, but a lot of them do. You'll want to research them and see which one fits you the best!

What is NoPixel? How Do I Join?
NoPixel is the main server that the majority of Twitch streamers have been participating in. If you've been watching players like Lirik, Summit, and MoonMoon, then that is the server they've been playing on. The problem with this server is that it's extremely popular now, and joining requires you to fill out an application to be whitelisted.
The other issue is that they have so many applications that they've stopped accepting them. The server is also relatively small and only holds 32 players at a time. More popular streamers get priority when trying to queue, so if you are not a streamer or are small-time, then it's going to be tough to get in. Still, if you are interested, follow the given procedures to apply.
To start, you will need to create an account at the NoPixel website. Completing the application form involves providing details like Steam GUID, Email, and DOB, among other things. After creating the ID, log into the account. Look for the "Donator Whitelisting" on the main menu page. Donate any amount of money (15$ to 500$) to the server, according to your wish. Now, select the "Civilian Application Template" from the Forums section and complete it. Submit the form and wait for a reply from the NoPixel server owners.
Playing in the NoPixel Public Server
If you are tired of applying and waiting for the popular NoPixel server, you can always jump into the NoPixel Public Server. As the name suggests, it is a public server with all the functionality and features of the original server. Moreover, it is pretty easy to enter, as you can play with a click of a button.
Simply look for the Public server, and connect on the main page of the NoPixel website. If you are not able to enter into the public server due to traffic, buy some Priority Boost Tier lists from the NoPixel Store section.

Best GTA V RP Servers
Apart from the NoPixel RP servers, there are a lot of top-class alternative RP servers.
Visit the respective RP websites and fill out the application similar to the NoPixel one.
What is Metagaming?
When a streamer is roleplaying, it is a rule that they do not know anything that their character doesn't know. So, if someone from chat was watching another stream and told another streamer what was going on in that other stream, that would be metagaming. It's very frowned upon because the whole point of RP is to have organic experiences, and knowing more information than you should lessens the fun! So, don't be one of those people trying to put a damper on the excitement.
