How to lose your Wanted Level in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas – Remastered

Lose the cops!

One of the most well-known mechanics in GTA San Andreas is the Wanted Level, which can go up or down based on the crimes that you commit. There are two methods to lose your Wanted Level—the normal ways, or through cheat codes.

Normal Methods

Hiding

The police will continue to chase you if they know where you are, so you have to take away that knowledge. The best way to do this is to go to a discreet, shaded/dark location. When your Wanted Level goes up, go to the discreet area and position yourself in a way that the police can’t see you from the road. You do not need to stay in your car to do this.

Once the police lose sight of you, you’ll see your Wanted Level flash. This means that the police don’t know where you are, but they are still searching for you. The goal here is to keep your Wanted Level flashing until the police eventually just give up and end the search.

The downside to this, though, is that some secluded areas might not be discreet enough if your Wanted Level is too high. If you have a police helicopter looking for you, they can spot you in locations that don’t have any overhead coverage. In this situation, you can try hiding in buildings, garages, or other areas that block the view overhead.

Disguise Yourself

Shops are placed randomly throughout the map that allow you to change the appearance of your car or your person. Apart from customizing your look, they also serve as a method to drop your Wanted Level. If you go to one of the following places and adjust your appearance, the police will automatically lose sight of you and make your Wanted Level flash.

  • Pay n’ Spray
  • Auto Body Shops
  • Barber Shops
  • Clothing Shops

Travel around the area and avoid going near any police vehicles and your Wanted Level will disappear.

Save your Game

Some might consider this a cheat, but it doesn’t actually involve a cheat code. If you go to your safe house and save your game, it automatically eliminates your Wanted Level. No waiting or hiding is necessary with this method!

Cheatcodes

There are a few cheatcodes in the game that will lower or lock your Wanted Level. Here are the codes that might help with your Wanted Level based on the platform that you are using.

  • Lock Wanted Level
    • PlayStation: Circle, Right, Circle, Right, Left, Square, Triangle, Up
    • Xbox: B, RIGHT, B, RIGHT, LEFT, X, Y, UP
    • PC: AEZAKMI
  • Lower Wanted Level
    • PlayStation: R1, R1, CIRCLE, R2, UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN
    • Xbox: RT, RT, B, RB, UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN, UP, DOWN
    • PC: TURNDOWNTHEHEAT

That’s everything there is to know about lowering your Wanted Level!
