Ain't no hurricane gonna stop me!

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City's map may not seem as big as it once used to, but that doesn't mean you are allowed it all at once! There are two main island, and one connecting mini island which need to be opened up. So, here is how to unlock all of the map.

To open up the entire map it doesn't take too long, but the game does make a note of letting you know it serves a purpose for them to be blocked off. It plays a radio alert at the very beginning talking about the bridges being closed due to hurricane warnings.

To unlock the bridge you need to progress in the main story. After completing Guardian Angels (the 11th mission) and Phnom Penh '86 (the 13th mission), you will be free to explore all the game has to offer.

It will seem like a longer time to unlock the bridge if you do side missions such as the ones given at the payphone, but in reality you can get over there within the first hour or so of playing if you play continuously.

Once you get into Starfish Island, the game starts feeling a lot more Scarface-esque, So, if that's your jam you will want to get over there ASAP!
