There's a lot of talking and decision-making in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, but how do you know now what will be an important choice or not? The game sometimes clearly states the obvious what is essential and what isn't, but other times it doesn't, so that a simple choice you make may change things further on in the game.
This guide will tell you what chapters these critical choices lay and when you need to make them.
All Important Story Choices in each Chapter
Chapter One
This isn't very important, but it does get referenced from time to time.
Chapter Two
There are two important choices to be made here. One changes how much you are fined, and the other locks you out of some collectibles later on in Chapter Seven. All other dialogues choices are not important, choose what you will.
- Should you Hide the Space Llama or Hide Rocket's Secret Stash
- This choice only effects how much you are fined, for full information follow our guide.
- Should you side with Nikki or Ro-Kel?
- This choice effects if you are locked out of collectibes later on in the game.
Chapter Three
There is one massively impacting choice for Chapter Four and one not-so-important choice that doesn't change anything apart from the route you have to take in Chapter Four.
- Should you sell Rocket or Groot to Lady Hellbender?
- This choice completely alters the next chapter.
- Should you encourage Drax to throw Rocket or stop him?
- This choice only changes the path you take.
Chapter Four
Depending on who you chose to sell in the previous chapter. Depends on if the conversation with Lady Hellbender succeeds or not.
- If you sold Groot
- How to negotiate with Lady Hellbender?
- This affects how many units you get.
- How to negotiate with Lady Hellbender?
- If you sold Rocket
- For information on what's different follow this guide. What changes in Chapter Four if you sold either Groot or Rocket?
Chapter Five
These choices aren't important and don't change much to the game.
- Should you speak into the helmet or put it down?
- Decides a battle
- What happens when you free the Nova Corp. prisoner?
- This one is funny
Chapter Six
This choice is completely optional, meaning it's missable. If you miss it you will not get a Compendium Item. But due to it being optional/missable isn't important to the later chapters of the game.
- What are the correct lyrics to sing with the alien Lipless in the Bar - Collector’s Emporium Ticket
- Missible Collectable
- What happens if you buy a lottery ticket on Knowhere in?
- Collectable
Chapter Seven
All dialogue choices in Chapter Seven have no effect on anything in the game. Choose whatever options you wish
Chapter Eight
There are three choices in Chapter Eight. One option saves time later on, the second is a progression that leads to a Game Over screen if not done correctly, and the third helps the player later in the game.
- How to keep Raker distracted so Rocket can hack the drone?
- Somewhat helps the guardians find a way out sooner
- How to get past the Flashback with your Mother?
- Continues the game further but you can always accept the promise to unlock the secret ending.
- Should you chase after Gamora or let her get Raker?
- Makes a later boss fight easier
Chapter Nine
There are two choices to be made in Chapter Nine. But this chapter does hold a few outcomes from decisions made in Chapter Two.
- How to convince the Worldmind to help you?
- Helps you later on in the game
- Should you pay off your Noca Corp fine?
- Unlocks Achievement/Trophy
Chapter Ten
This is a never-ending loop unless the player picks the right choices.
Chapter Eleven
All dialogue choices in Chapter Eleven have no effect on anything in the game. Choose whatever options you wish. Your choices only alter some choices in dialogue.
Chapter Twelve
The outcome of this decision will affect a later chapter, but the end credits are unaffected.
- How to bring Cosmo back from The Promise?
- A full reasoning for why you'd take away the illusion from a dog who is happy: Should you convince Cosmo to free him from The Promise?
Chapter Thirteen
There are no real choices here, just a very hard boss fight.
Chapter Fourteen
Only has outcomes for decisions made in Chapters Nine and Twelve.
Chapter Fifteen
This chapter only has an outcome from a decision you made in Chapter Eight involving Gamora.
Chapter Sixteen
The last chapter only has one important decision to be made.
- Should you be nice or rude to Magus?
- Besides this, there is a real combat scenario: How to beat Magus?
