During Elden Ring's 2021 network tests, players were able to choose from 5 playable classes. These classes were Warrior, Enchanted Knight, Prophet, Champion, and Bloody Wolf. While these are likely not all of the classes that will be playable at launch, it gives a good look at the gameplay styles that players can choose from in their adventure.Â
Warrior
The Warrior class has a heavy focus on agility/dexterity. This allows them to do great damage to enemies at close-range while having dual-wield weapons as a main source of damage.
Starting Weapon(s)
2 Scimitar and Buckler
Enchanted Knight
Enchanted Knights can focus on both melee combat and spell casting. There is a lot of versatility in this class, and it is a great choice for players who are intrigued by both magic and combat mechanics.
Starting Weapon(s)
Winged Spear, Carian Glintstone Shield, and Carian Sorcer Staff
Prophet
The Prophet class will be able to focus on "summons" magic. Having the ability to support allies in battle and also deal damage with their "Beast Claw" summon. Incantations are also a specialty of the Prophet classes.
Starting Weapon(s)
Club, Clawmark Seal, and Rickety Shield
Champion
Similar to the Prophet class, the Champion class relies on "summons" magic and faith. Champion class players also have a large health pool and a large amount of strength. The Champion class can also use Incantation spells and starts with some powerful ones from the beginning.
Starting Weapon(s)
Battle Axe and Finger Seal
Bloody Wolf
Bloody Wolf is the tank of the available classes so far. With a large pool of health and heavy damage dealing, this class is fearsome in battle. Strength and Vigor are this class' specialty and they rely heavily on melee combat.
