How to solve the bridge fire puzzle at Viaduct Courtyard in Hogwarts Legacy

The Viaduct Bridge connects the Great Hall to the Library Annex. You can find it on your map and access it easier by using Floo Quick Travel. On the bridge, you will notice there are braziers on either side with some interesting plaques under them. Each brazier has a specific symbol, and when you interact with them, it switches the roman numeral number dial connected to the brazier. The first step to completing this puzzle is to locate the plaque on the ground revealing what numbers you need to match to each symbol. You will notice them on either end of the bridge.

Looking at the plaque, you will notice each symbol has a number under it. This is what you will need to switch each brazier to in order to unlock the secret. However, you will notice you can't rotate the dials on the braziers without fire. There is only one brazier currently lit that you can switch. You'll need to use a fire spell to light the others.

You can learn Incendio following the main quests. You'll have to discuss what Professor Fig discovered about the locket and complete the side assignment from Professor Hecat. Once you have the spell, return to the bridge and use it to light up the rest of the braziers. Now you can rotate the dials accordingly. Following the plaque, each dial should be switched as follows:

  • Triangle: 1
  • Double circles and wand: 2
  • Triangle with crosshair: 3
  • Diamond with crossed wands: 4

Once all the braziers have the proper numbers matching the symbols, the plaque on the ground will open, revealing a ladder you can climb down. Underneath, you will locate several chests, including a bigger chest that holds some higher-tier loot. You will also complete an Exploration challenge.

Keep your eyes peeled for more little details and puzzles to solve around the castle. They often lead to worthwhile loot for your character and check off unique challenges that also offer rewards.
