Hogwarts Legacy will frequently give you choices via dialogue, particularly at the end of side quests. If you play through Minding your own Business, a PS5 exclusive Hogsmeade side quest in which you purchase your own shop, you'll find it haunted by the Poltergeist Fastido. At the end of the quest, you'll be given the option to Free Penny, the House-Elf that you purchased with your shop. Here's what happens depending on what you choose.
Hogwarts Legacy - Should you free Penny the House-Elf?
After teaching Cassandra Mason a thing or two, return to your newly purchased shop and talk to Penny. You can choose to either say No need Penny. I am freeing you. or That's good to hear. The first option will make Penny a free House-Elf.
Unfortunately, this is another scenario in which the decision that you make is largely inconsequential. If you free Penny, she'll thank you profusely and wear the hat that you give her with her freedom. However, she'll still choose to stay and maintain the shop. If you choose not to free her, she'll maintain the shop without her fancy hat.

What name should you choose for the shop in Hogwarts Legacy?
After deciding Penny's fate, you'll be given three options to name your shop. You can choose between Vesters and Venum, Cladwell and Brewsters, or Stitches and Draughts. Here again, the choice is largely inconsequential. The decision will change the sign that displays outside the shop after you've made your choice but has no effect on the shop itself.
No matter your decision on Penny's status or the shops name, you'll be able to sell unwanted gear here back to Penny for an ten percent boost. That's a pretty slight margin for the trouble you went through giving Fastido and Canssandra what for.
