Honkai Impact 3rd unveils new story & combat system for Part 2

HoYoverse's ARPG darling, Honkai Impact 3rd, celebrates seven years of being online with exciting news delivered by newly-appointed miHoYo CEO, Da Wei. Players were treated to a first look at details surrounding the long-awaited Part 2 update, which will feature an entirely new world called Mars, alongside new main characters, open-world improvements, and a revamped combat system.

What to expect from the new Honkai Impact 3rd update?

Honkai Impact 3rd began its journey in Part 1 alongside Kiana Kaslana, who went through unimaginable hardships, from her time training to be a Valkyrie to the moment she became the Herrscher of Finality. The story came to a close with an emotional graduation trip, and players were quickly thrown into the flurry of Part 1.5's Nagazora, which featured Seele as the main character. With the intermission coming to an end, Part 2 is slated to release in February 2024—featuring an all-new experience visually different from the original game.

In Part 2, players will meet a main character from Mars—the same world where the story will take place. There will be new NPCs, environments, and cultures different from Parts 1 and 1.5, and the plot will have no distinct connection with Kiana's story. In addition to the fresh environment, players will also be treated to a revamped combat system featuring a more immersive open-world experience. The jump functionality will open up, bringing in greater possibilities for exploration and forming combat strategies.

Honkai Impact 3rd Part 2 will also introduce a new combat mechanic called Astral Ring, enabling multiple characters to cast burst skills simultaneously. The developers have also focused on enhancing the enemy reactions, making combat even more exciting. The game shifted to the Unity engine in Part 1.5, so the visuals are significantly more refined and refined than the early days of Part 1.
