Everything coming in the Honkai Star Rail 1.2 Update – Blade, Kafka, & more!

Honkai Star Rail Update 1.2 is nearly upon us all, and with it comes a truly surprising amount of new content, especially for a gacha game. Hoyoverse is well known for harboring content droughts in their games. Genshin Impact is especially notorious for this specific problem. However, it seems that with Honkai Star Rail, Hoyoverse is taking community feedback very seriously. Here's everything revealed to be coming in Star Rail version 1.2.

All New Content in Honkai Star Rail 1.2

1.2 is scheduled to release on July 18 on whatever server you use. With that date comes a heap of content ranging from typical to downright generous. While the update contains some not-so-exciting stuff, overall, there are plenty of new playthings to go around.

New Characters

Update 1.2 is giving players the chance to obtain three new characters:

• Blade - A Five-Star, Wind Destruction DPS that saps his own health to dish out major damage
• Kafka - A Five-Star, Lightning Nihility DPS that specializes in dealing damage through lightning-based DoT (Damage over Time) effects. She also amps up other existing DoTs.
• Luka - A Four-Star, Physical Nihility DPS that gains bonus damage against bleeding targets and also inflects bleed DoT as well.

Blade and Kafka are both looking to shake up the meta with their new mechanics. Kafka, especially, offers and enables a playstyle that really does not exist in current Star Rail. Personally, she's the one I'm going for, for this reason.

New Story Chapter

At last, the storyline that began at the end of Honkai Star Rail's 1.0 release is finally getting a continuation with two new massive zones to explore:

• The Alchemy Commission
• The Scalegorge Waterscape

These two new zones look radically different from the others we've been introduced to so far.

New Enemies

These new zones are home to brand new enemies to face, including the likes of a new Weekly Boss:

• Malefic Ape - A monstrous primate boasting the Xianzhou aesthetic.
• The Ascended - A strange new monster under the guise of a mystical human female.
• Yanqing - Yes, the very same character you can pull from the Standard Banner. There's likely to be a story reason why we are facing him. Judging from his actions in the story prior, I'm willing to bet there's a bit of ego involved.
• Phantylia The Undying - The new Weekly Boss. She appears to have multiple phases with different mechanics that cannot be ignored if you're looking to defeat her.

New Relic Sets

Two brand new Relic Sets are coming with 1.2:

• Longevous Disciple - A set focused on increasing the user's max HP as well as granting the user a stacking Crit Rate bonus when their HP is consumed.
• Messenger Traversing Hackerspace - A set focused on boosting the user's Speed and boosting the Speed of their allies when their Ultimate is used.

Additionally, two new Planar Sets are also being released:

• Broken Keel - A two-piece set with a focus on Effect Resistance, granting a Crit Damage bonus when the user has enough Effect Resistance.
• Rutilant Arena - A two-piece set with a focus Crit Rate, granting a Basic Attack and Skill Damage bonus once the user has enough Crit Rate.

New Events

Besides the major content mentioned above, 1.2 will also be introducing some new events throughout its lifespan:

• Tales of the Fantastic - Mr. Xiyan, a storyteller, is interested in your daring exploits and would like to spin a tale in your honor...
• Underground Treasure Hunt - The Underground is rumored to be full of hidden treasure, but where there is latent treasure, there is hidden danger...
• Gift of the Odyssey - Login event rewarding all players that log into the game for at least seven days, during 1.2, with ten additional roles on the Event Banner: a godsend for those looking to grab the new characters.

An Expanded Simulated Universe

This one really caught me off guard. The popular Simulated Universe is getting its seventh world added in 1.2. While this itself is not surprising, what is surprising is how quickly this update to the mode is coming. I expected to see this a few more patches from now. Nevertheless, this is one addition I am really looking forward to.

A Free Character in the Forgotten Halls

The Forgotten Hall is also getting a nice update. Upon clearing the first stage, players will be rewarded with the powerful Yukong, all for free. Yukong is an Imaginary Harmony character and provides a significant buff to her whole team when she uses her Skill. I highly recommend building her up because she is the only Imaginary character in the game that can be obtained for free.
