Honkai Star Rail Simulated Universe World 7 Guide: How to beat Abundant Ebon Deer

An evil healing deer...

With the Honkai: Star Rail 1.2 update came the surprise addition of Simulated Universe World 7, and I'm happy to say it was an enjoyable experience. However, it certainly isn't an easy world to clear, especially if you're a relatively new player. There are many pitfalls you can run into during your fight with Abundant Ebon Deer, the final boss. Allow me to spell out exactly what you need to do to beat it. Here's everything you need to know!

Who to bring in Honkai Star Rail Simulated Universe World 7?

For most of the fight, your entire team will be taking damage from various sources. So, a strong carry DPS, a solid debuff/support DPS, a shielder, and a healer are ideal as the team comp.

The Abundant Ebon Deer is all about sustaining itself and its vine allies while slowly whittling down your team. There is a constant supply of various adds (additional enemies) during the fight that will not make it fun for you. Most of them, including the Ebon Deer itself, have Ice and Quantum as weaknesses, making characters like Seele, March 7th, Gepard, Qingque, and Yanqing highly recommended. You want characters that can target these two weaknesses but also deal massive damage to large groups of enemies.

In fact, I find that March 7th's alt—while not particularly strong—provides Ice weakness and a chance to freeze, which is invaluable in halting some of the adds via turn skip.

Additionally, Clara is a strong option as well due to the amount of AoE (Area of Effect) and counter mechanics present in the fight. Clara shines when she is attacked constantly, and I recommend bringing in Silver Wolf to provide Physical Weakness. You'll also want to include a strong healer and potentially a shielder on your team.

What Path and blessings should you choose for Simulated Universe World 7?

World 7 heavily favors burst damage for fast add clear, so I recommend either The Hunt or Preservation as the paths you should take. The Hunt provides you with extreme AOE damage that allows you to nuke a whole wave of adds in one or two shots. Additionally, taking a blessing that favors The Hunt will empower your main DPS as they aid in killing off the constant supply of adds. As for the bonus blessings, be sure to grab the one that allows for the Resonance to constantly recharge. This is super important to keep up, otherwise the adds will overwhelm you.

Preservation, on the other hand, focuses much more on sustaining your team from the constant barrage while also delivering an incredibly bursty payload when using its Resonance attack. If you decide to run Preservation, as I did, make sure you have March 7th or Gepard on your team and constantly shielding. Preservation's Resonance is significantly more powerful with the more shield on your team. Keep this in mind. You'll want to make sure to at least take the bonus blessing that gives Preservation Resonance a guaranteed crit every time you use it.

How to defeat Abundant Ebon Deer in Honkai Star Rail Simulated Universe 7

Difficulty 1 & 2

In Phase 1 of the fight, the Abundant Ebon Deer will attack with basic, low-damage attacks. This is because of the gimmick that comes from its two vine adds. These two adds, which I've dubbed Outrage Vines, cast an ability called Outrage on one of the members of your team. This debuff prevents you from controlling the actions of the targeted member so long as it persists. Your teammate will, instead, attack on their own, selecting their own target and also using only their basic attack. This doesn't seem too bad until you get to the next phase, where it becomes a problem. Until then, that's all the concern for Phase 1. Delete the deer's health.

In Phase 2, the Ebon Deer will summon four vine adds, two Outrage Vines, and two new types of vines I will now dub, Buff Vines. The Outrage Vines will continue to cast Outrage. As it is a debuff, it can be dispelled, and I highly recommend doing so due to the effects of the Buff Vine add. Buff Vines will provide the Ebon Deer with attack buffs that can become crippling if your team is not strong enough to handle its blows.

More important, however, is the retaliation buff, which the Buff Vines apply to themselves. It is exactly what you think: strike the Buff Vine with retaliation, and take damage. This is where Outrage becomes a problem and why you want to cleanse it ASAP. You also want to destroy these Buff Vines quickly as they heal themselves and the Ebon Deer at times. If that wasn't enough, Ebon Deer will cast a mass heal, healing itself and its vine allies. Take too long, and be overwhelmed. Kill the priority Buff Vine adds, then deplete the deer's health before things get out of hand.

Phase 3 is often the hardest phase of all Simulated World bosses, and for the Ebon Deer, that is no exception. All mechanics from Phase 1 and Phase 2 continue into Phase 3. At the beginning of the phase, Ebon Deer will summon four vines. Two of the vines will be any combination of the previously mentioned type. However, a third new vine, which I will dub Lavish Vines, will make up the last two.

Lavish Vines will occasionally cast an ability called Lavish Fruit, which causes a peach-like fruit to grow on their limbs. When two Lavish Fruits are active, Ebon Deer will immediately cast a powerful global nuke called Flamboyant Gore. At no point during the fight do you want this to happen. In fact, I highly recommend killing them as soon as they spawn. You won't be able to take too many Flamboyant Gores, so Lavish Vines become the priority.

Phase 3 is a war of attrition. You must constantly kill adds while whittling down the deer's final health bar. Ebon Deer will also be negating weaknesses for much of this phase, making this process even more difficult. However, focus has to come off the adds so you can kill the boss. For this, I recommend switching all DPS priority to the Ebon Deer when it gets to about 40% of its health. At this point, you need to absolutely nuke the Ebon Deer as quickly as you possibly can. The aforementioned mechanics will continue during this, but sustain yourself with your shields and heals while your DPS blows the boss up. It's all or nothing.

Difficulty 3 and above

World 7 starts at such a high level that the strategy really doesn't alter too much at higher difficulties. However, the one core change is the amount of time you'll be spending clearing adds in Phase 3. Higher health pools require a lot more damage, which you may not have. You'll need to have your sustain units well-built for a long-haul fight. The burst window for the boss also probably should be down to around 25% to 30% before hard switching to kill the boss. The first two phases largely remain the same.

With that, you should have your very first World 7 clear, Reader. If you can't kill it, however, keep working on leveling up characters and progressing the strength of your account. There's no shame in losing when you just aren't ready to face the threat. Keep trying, and eventually, this deer will fall to your heel.
