How to upgrade Specter Gauntlet in Horizon Forbidden West

Get the most out of the weapon.

In the first Horizon Forbidden West DLC, Burning Shores, Aloy gains access to an arsenal of new legendary weapons as she explores what was once known as Los Angeles, California. One such weapon is the Specter Gauntlet, a legendary ranged gauntlet that deals devastating explosive damage, especially once you upgrade it. How to upgrade the Specter Gauntlet in Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores

To upgrade the Specter Gauntlet in Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores DLC, you need to track down the Railgun Component, which you'll be able to pick up during the In His Wake side quest.

Once in hand, take the component to a Workbench, where you can modify the weapon and turn it into a ranged railgun, which is perfect for taking out large groups of enemies or whittling down a boss quickly.

How to start the In His Wake quest in Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores

To start In His Wake, you must have completed the fourth Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores main story quest, For His Amusement. Once you have, speak with Otosu in Fleet's End, who is standing under a canopy just northeast of the Dyer. He will ask you to assist in locating some missing Quen—including his friend, Lan.

Railgun Components location in Horizon Forbidden West

Progress through the In His Wake quest until you're tasked with fighting Pirik at his camp on an island southwest of Fleet's End. Take him down, and you'll be able to loot his corpse for the Railgun Component—after prying the wooden door open and freeing the nearby captured Quen from their prison.

If you don't have the Specter Gauntlet in Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores and you're researching ahead first, you get it automatically by defeating Zeth in the third main story quest, The Stars in Their Eyes.
