In the dark and atmospheric deck builder Inscryption, the player must collect cards and overcome numerous challenges as they move their piece across the board. These challenges include battles, trials, and boss fights. One such boss fight is the Angler who is the boss of the Wetlands.
This aquatic foe can be tricky to beat if you aren't prepared. He makes use of the waterborn sigil which essentially prevents you from attacking his cards. They are still free to attack you and your cards. Like the Prospector, the Angler has two phases that must be defeated.
The first phase is fairly straightforward. The Angler will use his cards to attack and then hide on your turn. You can either deal damage quickly to end this phase before he gets too many on the board or play strong defensive cards to block his attacks. Once you have defeated the first phase, the Angler will reset his side of the board.
He will then play a Bait Bucket card in front of all your cards. These deal no damage, but upon being defeated will turn into a powerful Shark card. Cards with the flying sigil are effective here as you do not have to worry about unleashing the sharks and beating the Angler's second phase.
Throughout the fight, the Angler will occasionally use his fishing hook to pull your cards to his side of the board. He will make statements about stale and fresh fish. If multiple cards are on the board, he will typically pull the card most recently played. Use this to your advantage by playing weak cards to keep your good cards on your side of the board.
