In LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, players can enjoy playing through their favorite moments from the mainline movies. However, sometimes you might want to play a part of that story as another character than the original one or spend some extra time exploring an environment, which is exactly what Free Play is for. Here is how you can unlock Free Play for levels in LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.
To unlock Free Play for a level, you just need to complete that level all the way through once. There is no need to complete the entire episode or even the entire game. Once you beat a level, you can immediately go back and play it again on Free Play. You are required to play each mission, or level, once before you can unlock Free Play mode for that given level.

Free Play mode on main missions lets you play through the level with whichever characters or ships you choose to use instead of the default ones used in the movies. Free Play mode is also available in between the main missions and is actually the default mode in Free Roam. Free Play mode may not seem like a big deal, but it is actually essential for anyone going for 100 percent completion on the game. Some levels will require certain characters to access other areas.
While Free Play won't be too big of a deal early on in the game, you will no doubt want to give it a try when more characters are unlocked, as it can create some fun situations such as Count Dooku fighting himself or Luke Skywalker partnering up with Anakin before he becomes Darth Vader.
