Is there a Mimic in Lethal Company?

We ape, we mimic, we mock. We die.

The four-player horror title Lethal Company is making big waves on Steam, and the fan-base is very invested in it. There have been loads of suggested new enemies to make this chilling game harder, but none has been so popular as the idea of a Mimic.

Do Mimics exist in Lethal Company?

Despite its popularity as an idea, no Mimics have yet to be implemented in this early access game. There isn't even a community-made mod at the time of writing. Since the entire Steam Community and several people on Reddit have rallied around the idea, we may see this horrifying fiend in the future. Some of the community's thoughts on this monster would make it one of the most frightening enemies.

Of all the ideas floating around in the Lethal Company Discord and forums, there seem to be some Mimics that the community is particularly fond of. Here are some of the most frightening ideas fans have theory crafted.

  • The Mimic kills, eats, then imitates a dead body of a teammate, fooling others into trying to pick up any items that might be on the body or the body itself.
  • The Mimic AI could record the in-game voice chat, then play it back to fool players into coming to help them.
  • Rather than a Mimic per say, a similar idea has been floated that there would be a creature that could possess the body of a teammate, trying to get close to teammates before attacking.
  • Mimics could look like other players, items, or even things like ladders or doors, only giving themselves away with a little bit of movement.

Regardless of whether or not the developers can or will implement such an enemy, the thought is terrifying. I can imagine walking up to what I thought was a cash register or engine and having it eat me. The idea is fun, but Lethal Company might become much too difficult if you can't trust your teammates or the items you find.
