How to unlock new characters Mario Kart 8

As part of the Mario franchise, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has become a beloved favorite among fans of all ages, especially for its multiplayer and split-screen options. With the ability to choose from various kart and character combinations, you can customize your racing style and explore tons of unique maps with many features that can either help or hinder your game. If you're a newer player or unfamiliar with the game, this can be a little daunting. In this guide, we'll walk you through everything you need to know about unlocking new characters in Mario Kart 8!

How do you get new characters in Mario Kart 8?

To unlock new characters in Mario Kart 8, you'll need to win a Cup in the Grand Prix game mode. You can choose any speed, from 50cc to Mirror 150cc, but keep in mind that the characters are unlocked randomly. Unfortunately, you can't choose which new racer you get, but if you keep winning in different Cups, you'll eventually unlock more characters, and hopefully, the ones you want! It's also important to note that there are currently five characters that are unavailable due to their inclusion in Booster Course Pass.
