Metaphor ReFantazio – Release date, platforms, Game Pass, & more!

Xbox is getting another JRPG.

JRPG fans have typically had to pick up a Sony or Nintendo console to get the most out of their genre, but Xbox has been trying to close the gap as of late, and Metaphor ReFantazio is a great example of that.

There's a lot to speculate, but we want to parse out what we know. Here's what to expect from Atlus' upcoming title.

Metaphor ReFantazio release date

We don't have a definitive release date for Metaphor ReFantazio, but a trailer from The Game Awards 2023 gave us a better idea of when the game will finally be released. Metaphor ReFantazio will be officially released in Fall 2024 on both Xbox and PC.

Will Metaphor ReFantazio be on Game Pass?

Typically if a game was going to be on Game Pass, the trailer would've mentioned it in some way, but that wasn't the case for Metaphor ReFantazio. It's too soon to rule it out completely, but signs are pointing towards no at this point.

What platforms will Metaphor ReFantazio be on?

Xbox Series X|S and PC (Windows) are the confirmed platforms for Metaphor ReFantazio. To see this game skip PlayStation would be a surprise to say the least. Timed exclusivity has been popular over the past generation, and that could be the case again here, but we can't be certain.

What is Metaphor ReFantazio?

At first glance, Metaphor ReFantazio looks like it could be a Shin Megami Tensei or Persona game, and that's because it's from the same creators. Watching the trailer debuted during The Game Awards 2023, this looks like an original game that players should be able to jump right into without needing to know anything from past games.

If you're looking to get your feet wet regarding JRPGs on the Xbox platform, this looks like an excellent starting point. If you don't want to wait until 2024 to do so, you can try out the various Persona games that are now on Xbox to get an idea of what to expect from Atlus' upcoming title.
