How to find Diamonds in Minecraft 1.20 - Best Diamond Y Level

As far as update 1.20.41, you can easily find diamonds at around Y -16, increasing chances of finding some as you reach the Y level -50, similar to the previous update.

Best Y-level for Diamonds

The best Y level to find diamonds is anywhere between Y level -53 to -55; I usually find success between those levels while doing the old branch mining method. If you can dig your way around the lava without dying, you can keep exploring for Diamond ores until Y level -59 (before the bedrock layer at Y level -60 to -64).

Remember that you can only mine the diamond ores using iron, diamond, or netherite pickaxe. If you mine it with the wrong tool, you will get nothing from the ore. The best place to look for diamonds would be large caves, like the one in the picture above, so make sure to check mountainsides for any cave entrances you may find and bring a few Potion of Night Vision along your journey!
