A good horse goes a long way.

Minecraft features various mobs. Some are friendly, like sheep, pigs, and cows, while others are hostile, like zombies, skeletons, and pillagers. What to feed horses in Minecraft - Horse Breeding Guide

You can feed horses in Minecraft several items, including wheat, hay bales, apples, golden apples, sugar, and golden carrots. Many of these items can be easily obtained, so we recommend using these over rare items like golden apples and carrots. While holding the held item, interact with the horse to feed it.

Breeding is a little more complicated, as you need two horses to feed them specific items. You must feed each horse a golden apple or a golden carrot. This will cause hearts to appear and the horses to go into love mode. Shortly after, you will have bred a baby horse.

How to tame a horse in Minecraft

Before you can successfully ride and care for a horse, you must first tame it. This can be done by mounting it. It will buck you off, but keep at it, and you will eventually break the horse and see hearts appear around it. Once you have done this, you will have tamed the horse and be able to sit on it. However, you cannot control it.

How to ride a horse in Minecraft

After taming a horse in Minecraft, you must complete one more step before you can ride. This is to put a saddle on the horse. Once you do this, you can control the horse and travel much faster through the Minecraft world.

Some horses will have better stats than other horses, allowing them to run faster or jump higher. There is no way to tell them apart besides trial and error. You can use items while riding a horse and feed them to your horse to heal them. Horses will automatically climb any block that is one block high. Additionally, Horses have different commands, which include the following.

  • Jumping
    • Horses have a meter that determines how high they can jump. You can tap the jump button to jump a short distance. If you hold the button down, your horse will jump much higher.
  • Dismounting
    • To dismount your horse, press the Left Shift key or the Right Stick on a controller.
