Bane of Arthropods is a unique enemy damage-focused enchantment that will cause weapons to deal more damage towards arthropod mobs or spider enemies. Enemies that fall under the arthropod category include the following.

This enchantment will also cause these enemy types to gain slowness IV with a one-second duration that will increase with the level of the enchantment.

Overall, Ban of Arthropods is a useful enchantment if you plan on making a spider farm, in any other case, it's not recommended to use the enchantment. The main reason is that it will cause the following enchantments to become incompatible with the item you enchant it on to.

  • Sharpness
  • Cleaving
  • Smite

These enchantments are far more useful than Ban of Arthropods as they can deal more damage to all mobs types in the game. Nonetheless, if you want this enchantment, you can get it through the following methods.

  • Fishing
  • Enchanting table
  • Trading
  • Looting Chests

Starting with fishing, if you have a fishing pole enchanted with luck of the sea and lure enchantments, there's a good chance you can get enchanted books with it - one of these may also be the Ban of Arthropods enchantment, so it's always worth trying it.

However, you might be better off trying to enchant books via an enchanting table and Lapis Lazuli. Beyond that, looting dungeon chests, and checking villagers, and trading emeralds when they have the book is another option.
