Few monsters are as recognizable in the Monster Hunter mythos as the Anjanath. This fire-breathing Brute Wyvern towers over hunters with its massive frame, boasting powerful jaws that can end an unprepared attacker. Make sure that you know the ins and outs of this colossal creature before fighting it so you can grab yourself some items, gear, and loot.
When fighting this beast, it's good to know what it's weak against or where to inflict that good old damage to slaughter the foe quickly. So here's Anjanath's weaknesses, resistances, and drop rates.
All Anjanath Weaknesses
Elemental Weakness
The main weakness of this Brute Wyvern is water, but if you have ice or thunder, these are close second and third options. Do not use fire, as this monster is immune to the element. Here are the locations where you should attack Aknosom for extra elemental damage.
You should focus if using an elemental weapon on its legs, tail, and wings.

Damage Location | Cutting Damage | Impact Damage | Shot Damage |
---|---|---|---|
Head | 70 | 70 | 60 |
Snout | 80 | 75 | 65 |
Neck | 30 | 30 | 15 |
Torso | 30 | 30 | 45 |
Wing | 50 | 45 | 55 |
Leg | 30 | 30 | 15 |
Tail | 60 | 60 | 55 |
- If using a cutting weapon focus on the head/snout and tail
- If using a blunt weapon focus on the head/snout.
- If using a bow weapon focus on shooting the head and wings.
Anjanath Resistances and Ailments
This Bird Wyvern is resistant to almost every type of ailment you can inflict on a monster, except one—Waterblight. Luckily, Anjanath is weak to water, so imposing Waterblight onto this monster will be effective if you use fast attacking weapons.
Anjanath Drop Rates - Carves, Capturing & Breaking
Depending on your quest, you can get different rewards to forge armor and weapons, but each has a drop rate percentage, ultimately RNG. It is pure luck what you receive.
- There are multiple ways of gaining items
- You can carving three times once the monster is dead.
- You can capture the monster instead of killing it.
- Or carving the broken appendage of said monster.
- From looting the drops from the monster
- After successfully compleing your quest
Most monsters have breakable parts, and Anjanath is no different. You can knock parts of this monster off—namely around the Head and Legs. If you break these pieces during the hunt, you will earn extra rewards after completing the quest.
