King of the Tempest.

Monster Hunter Rise allows players to hunt down and destroy the monsters that populate the game's open areas. Doing so grants players items, materials, and experience if completed successfully. Not all monsters are equal, though. At the top of the food chain in Monster Hunter Rise are the Elder Dragons, herculean Wyverns that dominate the lands they inhabit. One of those Elder Dragons, Kushala Daora, will make quick work of unprepared hunters, so ensure you're ready for this challenging boss by learning its weaknesses, resistances, and drop rates beforehand.

Kushala Daora Elemental Weakness

Kushala Daora's main weakness is thunder, so make sure to take along a weapon infused with this element if you can. Should you lack a thunder weapon, dragon and fire weaponry is also effective. Water isn't preferred but does more damage than no element aspect. Do not use the ice element on Kushala Daora, as the beast is immune to damage from this attack type.

If you've got a thunder weapon, focus your attacks on the Foreleg, Wing, and Tail for the most damage. Those using dragon weapons would do well to aim their attacks on the Wings and Tail of Kushala Daora for the best impact. Fire and water weapons do the same damage throughout this Elder Dragon's body, so aim wherever you please when using these tools.

Kushala Daora Resistances and Ailments

The Kushala Daora has a wide array of ailment resistances. If you want to use an ailment that hits hard, pick up a weapon with Blast affinity. This ailment is very impactful, and Thunderblight is a viable second option. If you've got a quick-moving weapon like the Insect Glaive or Dual Blades with these elements, you should inflict ailments fairly quickly. Do not use the Paralysis or Exhaust ailments, as Kushala Daora is immune to them.

Depending on your quest, you can get different rewards to forge armor and weapons, but each has a drop rate percentage, ultimately RNG. It is pure luck what you receive.

    • You can capture the monster instead of killing it.
