Rathian Elemental Weakness

The Rathian's main weakness is dragon-type weaponry, so do your best to bring tools with this element if you have them. If you lack dragon weapons, take thunder, water, or ice gear instead, as they'll give you an edge in battle as well. Though not as impactful as dragon weapons, they still provide a boost. Avoid using fire weapons on the Rathian, as it is immune to this element.

Those with elemental weapons should focus their attacks on the Rathian's Head and Wings, as these areas take the most damage.

Rathian Drop Rates - Carves, Capturing & Breaking

Depending on your quest, you can get different rewards to forge armor and weapons, but each has a drop rate percentage, ultimately RNG. It is pure luck what you receive.

  • There are multiple ways of gaining items
    • You can carving three times once the monster is dead.
    • You can capture the monster instead of killing it.
      • Or carving the broken appendage of said monster.
    • From looting the drops from the monster
    • After successfully compleing your quest

Most monsters have breakable parts, and Rathian is no different. Hunters can break the Head, Wings, Back, and Tail of the Rathian. If you break any of these pieces during the hunt, you will earn extra rewards after completing the quest.
