How to play Bard in Mordhau – Lute Guide

MORDHAU boasts plenty of playstyles, and there's even a passive one that will see players step into the shoes of a Bard. Armed with a lute, there's not a whole lot of damage to be done on the battlefield, but that doesn't mean an impact can't be made out there.

How to play the Lute in Mordhau

The lute in Mordahu is not a weapon of sorts that will be racking up a bunch of kills. Instead, playing as a Bard is akin to playing as a cleric that doesn't heal or a support character that provides buffs. The Bard does absolutely nothing apart from playing music. You'll be using your lute as a way to play music and provide a morale boost. Playing music comes from hitting the mouse wheel along with the left and right mouse buttons.

There's a mod that can be installed called LuteBot that will allow players to play real-life songs within the world of MORDHAU. The developers say that using this mod won't result in a ban, so players can freely install it and play music as much as they want.

Bard tips in Mordhau

There's a sort of player etiquette involved when there's a Bard on the server, and many players leave them alone when they come across one. The Bard won't exactly be doing much outside of playing music, but stepping in to control a point can result in a swift death. They certainly shouldn't find themselves engaged in 1v1 battles if they can avoid it.

If there's ever a need to defend themselves, the lute can be used as a weapon, but there won't be many kills to be found that way, and you'll find yourself at death's door quick enough. In the end, the Bard is a meme character to play as, and while it can be a bit of fun to play music for a bit, we suspect most players will gravitate back toward real weapons so they can really play the game.
