The Krypt was the ever-present feature in Mortal Kombat games, excluding Mortal Kombat 1. Krypt in Mortal Kombat 11 is presented as one big island you can explore in third-person mode. Here's a guide to the Krypt in Mortal Kombat 11, with all the key locations and key items.
This mode is a great way to spend your hard-earned Koins for various in-game goods, such as costumes, concept art, Fatalities, and many more. Note the Krypt in MK11 is mainly based on RNG, although the more expensive chests will give you more chances to get better rewards.
Krypt Walkthrough for Mortal Kombat 11
The Krypt is filled with chests and treasure items requiring different currencies to unlock. The main currency is the Koins, but you also have Soul Fragments and Hearts. Regular Koin chests get unlocked by Koins, but there are also Soul Chests, Soul Spires, Heart Chests, and Fire Chests.
Those special chests are not RNG-oriented and offer better rewards because the particular currencies are much more time-demanding to collect. Now, with that said, let's start our walkthrough.
Palace Entrance
After the cut scene, there are two free chests containing 50,000 Koins and 100 Hearts. Getting those two will unlock a big gate to Shao Kahn's Hammer. This hammer will allow you to break down cracked walls and access new locations. You will see a cracked gate behind the altar where you picked the hammer. Break it down to go to the Courtyard.
Courtyard
Go left from the Courtyard entrance, and you'll get to the Kronika's Time Vault. Right next to it is a breakable wall and a Gong. Hitting the gong with the hammer will unlock another gate. Return to the central Courtyard and find a newly opened Gate to the Forge.
Forge
You can craft various items in the Mortal Kombat 11 Krypt Forge, but you'll need ingredients and currency to do so. There's only one key Item you will need the Forge to make (later in the game): the Amulet of Shinnok. You will need Amulet of Shinnok as one of the three amulets to unlock the access the Krypt's final area. To forge it you'll have to collect Ensorcelled Demon's Heart, the Ensorcelled Dragon's Eye, and the Ensorcelled Ensorcelled Gem of Trapped Souls.
Besides that, you can craft character gear pieces and consumables. When interacting with Forge, you'll be given three slots for items to combine and make a new item. What makes things tricky is that you don't know any of the recipes at the beginning. Also, if you use the wrong items, you won't lose them, but you will lose all the currencies needed for crafting.
From the Forge, you will reach the Shrine if you take the right path leading to the Mountain Pass.
Shrine
You can do many things in the Shrine with the right items. If you want to go through, head right to activate a cutscene with a meteorite. Smash a meteorite with the hammer, and you'll get Gem of the Living. After that, go left and down the stairs to find another gong. Striking the gong will give you 25,000 Koins and open a hole back to the central Courtyard.
Warrior Shrine
North from the Shrine, you'll find Warrior Shrine. Inside the Warrior Shrine, you will find the heads of every fighter in the game with a treasure chest in front. To unlock a fighter's head, you must exit Krypt, go to the Tower of Time mode, and perform 50 fatalities and brutalities on any fighter. After you win a head, you can put it on the belonging pike to continue.

Courtyard
Return to the spot where the first gong is located. A door should be to the left of it, and it will open once you have the Gem of the Living. Through that door, you will enter the Gardens.
Gardens
Cross the bridge, then demolish the wooden barrier on your left. Upon entering the room, you should find another room with a lever. Pull the lever, and the door will open, and inside, there's Cracked Horn of Motaro.
It's time to turn around now. Go back to the location of the meteorite crash and approach the large door that stands in front of it. By placing the Cracked Horn of Motaro inside of it, you'll gain access to the Courtyard Cave.
Courtyard Cave
This one is quick; go through the cave and activate the elevator lever to go to the next area.
Goro's Lair Part 1
This one isn't that quick, as there are many things to do. To start things up, go straight, and you will trigger a cutscene. After the cutscene ends, go right until you find an area with prison cells. Inside one of the cells, you will get Kenshi's Blindfold, which will give you the ability to peek into the Spirit Realm. When you use the Blindfold, you will see a breakable wall you can hit with your hammer.
Go back to Goro's Throne and follow the path up and behind it. You should find the Scorpion's Spear at the end of the passage. This item will help you grab objects that are out of reach.
On the path left to Goro's Throne, you can use chains on the walls to open the gate. The gate should bring you to a large dining room. Go upstairs, and you will see another gate on the right, which you can open using chains.
Going through that gate will lead to the elevator you can use to go to the top. After a gruesome cutscene where a man falls to the bunch of spikes, loot the corpse for Ermac's Amulet of Souls. This item allows you to trade 100 Souls for a green pot. You can also use it to repair particular objects, such as the bridge by the Forge.
Goro's Lair Part 2
If you happened to pick up Raiden's Shattered Staff from earlier, there is a door on the left of the Torture Hall. After evading the swinging traps, you will find a chest containing 20,000 Koins and the Dragon Amulet Keystone. With that keystone, you can unlock the door just past the Forge that leads to the Mountain Pass.
Now it's time to return to Goro's Lair's starting point. A door to be opened with the Mind of the One Being, the Soul of the One Being, and the Heart of the One Being. After opening the door, you must leave the Krypt and spend some time in either Klassic Towers or Towers of Time. You have to perform 10 Brutalities, 10 Fatalities, and 10 Mercies there.
After that, you can go to the Vault and find a chest that takes 80,000 Koins to open. The chest contains the Heart of Blaze, an essential item we will use later in the game.

Kytinn Hive
Now, it's time to visit the first Kytinn Hive. You will find it if you go the right path from the Torture Halls. You will encounter a giant spider that will try to burn you unless you hammer him down. You will get a unique character skin for D'vorrah. Keep hammering the spiders until you get the Ensorcelled Eye of a Dragon, which you need to forge an essential item.
The Sacrifice
It's time to use that Heart of Blaze item. Return to the Courtyard and then to the Warriors Shrine. There are stairs below the statues you can use to head down. Behind a busted gate, you can reach the Shao Khan chest. However, using Kenshi's Blindfold will reveal that seemingly broken chains are intact in other Realms. Follow the path behind the chest, and you will reach The Sacrifice.
You will notice three giant statues, three monk corpses, and two locked chests in the room. To unlock the chests, you need to lower the cage by pulling the lever and then put the Heart of Blaze inside the cage. Pull the lever to raise the cage back up and ignite the Heart of Blaze with Scorpion's Spear to unlock the chests.
The Dojo
If you return to the statues and the right of the door to Goro's Lair, you will notice a small cavity; the Blindfold will reveal a weak spot in the wall that leads to the Dojo. After checking out all the chests in that area, you should head to the gate and open a new path by pulling the lever. That will give you 1,000 Koins and 10 Soul Fragments.
Second Courtyard
After you exit the Dojo, face the wall across the Dojo gate and put on your Blindfold. You will notice a crack in the wall, which means you can break it to reveal another cave behind the Central Courtyard. In this cave are a few chests and the chain that raises the gate to the Central Courtyard. If you have the Dragon Amulet, you can open the door at the Mountain Pass. From there, you can go to the second Kytinn Hive.
Second Kytinn Hive
You will see a sealed gate after you pass the Dragon Door and go to the bottom of the pit. The gate requires you to complete three puzzles to unlock it. Pull the levers next to the stones until you see three slots. You will need Kronika's Amulet, Shinnok's Amulet, and Cetrion's Amulet. Earning these three amulets might take a while.
- Kronika's Amulet - You have to donate 1,000 Koins in the big Shrine past the Mountain Pass.
- Shinnok's Amulet - You need the Forge to craft this item from the Ensorcelled Demon's Heart, the Ensorcelled Dragon's Eye, and the Ensorcelled Ensorcelled Gem of Trapped Souls. The first item is random; for the second, you need to kill spiders in the Kytinn Hive, and the third one requires you to open the Soul Vault in the Dead Woods for 10,000 Souls.
- Cetrion's Amulet - You must do 50 Fatalities on Cetrion in Towers of Time.
By successfully doing this, you will get 5,000 Koins and gain access to the area filled with chests and various goods.
Shang Tsung's Throne Room
Remember Warriors' Shrine? If you want to enter Shang Tsung's Throne Room, you must go there and place each fighter's head in their respective place. You need 10 heads to enter the throne room. However, 15 heads will give you entrance to Shang Tsung's first treasure cache, while 25 will get you to his other treasure cache with some rare items.
