Round 1! Fight!

Ed Boon, the creator of the famous Mortal Kombat franchise, has officially announced the first trailer for the newest installment, Mortal Kombat 1, on his Twitter page. The long-lasting bloody franchise has been running successfully since 1992, it has been my obsession since early childhood, so I was watching the premiere at the edge of my seat! Here is what we know so far from the trailer.

Why is it called Mortal Kombat 1 and not Mortal Kombat 12?

As previously hinted by Ed Boon on his Twitter page @noobde, the franchise is set to skip the 12th installment instead of opting for the apparent complete reboot of the series. What we could see from the trailer, the story starts from the very roots of the original arcade game, except with a major storyline twist.

Joyous prosperity or bitter rivalry - will there be tag teams in Mortal Kombat 1?

One thing that caught my eye while watching the trailer, in particular, was the line spoken by the announcer relating to the choices that we, the players, will be making. The bitter rivalries that we've witnessed throughout the series might all take a different turn, as hinted by Kitana and Mileena's silent interaction while being transported in the nether realm chariot. We could also see Scorpion and Sub Zero standing next to each other without ripping each other's throats out.
