How does the Pressure System work in NHL 24?

The Pressure System is a meter that can be seen on the ice of the offensive team. While the offense is threatening a goal, the meter will slowly fill. The meter fills faster if the offense shoots, passes, and gets hits all while on the offensive side of the ice.

Once the meter is full, you will get 30 seconds of Full Pressure, which increases the offensive team's passing, shooting, and speed. The defense is hit with the Pinned effect, which decreases their speed and stamina recovery.

Building pressure and Full Pressure can be removed by the defense, keeping the puck out of the offensive attack zone for five seconds. Icing will not remove the Pressure building, so the meter will remain the same during the face-off following an Icing call.

Pressure System tips and tricks in NHL 24

The Pressure System feels like a mini-game within matches in NHL 24. Controlling the pressure is extremely important in real NHL games, so the gameplay feature in NHL 24 makes the game more realistic and brings more focus to possessions. Here are some tips and tricks to capitalize on the Pressure System in NHL 24.

When building pressure on offense, try to run your plays and slowly open up opportunities to score. Running screens, making easy passes on the outside, and catching the defense out of position are great ways to build pressure quickly. When the meter is almost full, the defense will most likely get aggressive to try to win back possession. This is the perfect time to keep the pressure up and take open shots when available.

If you are on defense, keeping the pressure down can be a difficult task. If you are playing a slow-developing offense, try to keep your defenders in passing lanes and try to stick poke on-puck without committing penalties.
