Nightingale's tutorial teaches you how to place structures, but did you know you can take them down too? Here's how to toggle build mode and move or destroy structures in Nightingale.
How to toggle Build Mode in Nightingale
After completing Nightingale's character creation and tutorial, you'll be free to build your estate in an Abeyance Realm. While you may be tempted to destroy misplaced structures by hitting them with an axe or pick, you can press X to toggle Build Mode, which allows you to copy, move, or delete structures at the push of a button. A new hotbar (pictured above) will appear at the bottom of your screen—similar to the hotbar used when placing structures—that displays your options as well as the structure limits of your estate.
Build Mode is much faster than breaking objects manually and preserves the durability of your tools. Here are all the ways you can use Build Mode in Nightingale.
How to remove structures in Nightingale
If you want to delete a structure at your base, toggle build mode, then approach the object and press V. An icon of a trash can (pictured above) will appear on your screen; you'll need to hold the V key down until the bar around this icon is filled. This feature gives you the chance to back out of destroying the structure if you change your mind. Destroyed structures drop the resources used to make them on the ground.
How to move structures in Nightingale
If you want to move or reposition a structure, toggle build mode, walk up to the structure, and press R. The structure you've selected will be highlighted in yellow. You can rotate the object or adjust its height with the mouse menu, or move it entirely by hitting left-click on a new location. Moving a structure does not cost any resources and takes place instantly, making it a convenient feature for redecorating your estate.
How to copy structures in Nightingale
Copying structures allows you to duplicate any object at your estate. You'll still need to spend resources on copied structures, but you won't have to repeatedly enter the building menu while you build. I use this feature to build walls and floors, as I can quickly put down duplicates of the same object.
To copy structures, toggle build mode, walk up to any object at your base, and press Q. Then move your cursor to your desired location and hit left-click to confirm. From here, simply spend the required resources to create the structure, as you would if you had entered the build menu.
