Metroid Dread was originally a project that began around 2005. It was slated to be a title that would appear on the Nintendo DS. The game was expected to debut in 2006, but the project was canceled before it could be shown at E3 2006, where many thought it would be officially revealed. Now, Nintendo has revived the project for Nintendo Switch. Fans of the Metroid franchise are rejoicing for the upcoming action game.
Metroid Dread was officially debuted at E3 2021 during the Nintendo Direct conference. The game will only be available for play on Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite consoles. Nintendo confirmed during the announcement trailer that Metroid Dread will be released on October 8, 2021 for all players.
Metroid Dread, which is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch (and Nintendo Switch Lite), is available for pre-order on the Nintendo website. It can also be pre-ordered from Best Buy. Both sources are asking $59.99 for the game, which is also the expected price upon release.
