How to complete Grind The Bad Apples Program in Outlast Trials – Full Walkthrough

One of the most confusing and challenging quests in The Outlast Trials is the second program - Grind The Bad Apples. Level 2 — also known as Program 2 — demands you find and solve several puzzle-based quests to progress in the stage, making it one of the trickiest levels in the game, as other levels are usually combat or stealth-based. How to Infiltrate the Park in Grind The Bad Apples Program - The Outlast Trials

After spawning, walk past the silver bus and take the right lane adjacent to it. At the end of the road, you will find the rusty metal entrance door of the park. Open the door alone or with your pals to infiltrate the park.

How to Reach the Root Canal Ride in Grind The Bad Apples Program - The Outlast Trials

The next assignment is to reach the Root Canal Ride. Take the first left near the main ride at the park entrance. Next, take a right that will lead to the corridor with several buildings. Find a building with the direction sign, as seen in the below image.

Enter the building and take the heart from the containers at the center. Throw the heart-like object at the target board on the wall inside the same store building to reach the Root Canal Ride.

Once you have reached the Root Canal Ride, you must gain access to the ride by collecting tickets. You can acquire them by finishing several random mini-games on your assignment list that involve throwing the heart at the target in the stall. During my run, the game demanded I complete three games (three tickets): Alien Invader, Feed the Clowns, and Shamrocks. The number of mini-games will vary depending on your squad size. Since I played the solo version, I needed to finish three games.

You can find the locations of all games on the maps distributed around the amusement park; the games will be highlighted on the map with a red flashing bulb on its top with your current location. 

Once you have gathered the mentioned tickets, give them to the doll at the booth to start the ride.

How to Regroup into the Root Canal and Activate the Ride in Grind The Bad Apples Program - The Outlast Trials

After getting into the ride area, regroup with your other teammates. Now, wait for the cutscene to end and press the red button at the center to activate the ride.

How to Push the Boat to the Children's Punishment in Grind The Bad Apples Program - The Outlast Trials

After activating the ride, push the boat by standing behind it and pressing the interactive button shown on the screen. Keep thrusting the ship until the end of the trial while performing other following objectives in the challenge.

Remember: you must push the boat into the metal grinder at the end to finish the overall program.

How to Power Off the Blocking Barriers in Grind The Bad Apples Program - The Outlast Trials

While pushing the boat, two obstacles will be in your course path, hindering your movement. Deactivate these barriers by turning off their power sources.

Follow the wire emerging from the barriers and obstacles until their socket point. Unplug both electric wires to proceed further. While performing the objective, you will be hunted by the main clown boss. Evade him by hiding inside boxes or other vacant spaces until you turn off everything.

How to Raise the Root Canal Water Level Back Up in Grind The Bad Apples Program - The Outlast Trials

The next objective is to raise the water level back up in the ride by turning on all the water pipes. Like the earlier objective, the number of pipes to turn on will depend upon your squad size.

As a solo player, I was required to turn on two water pipes. Follow the color code of the pipe properly and turn it on where the tubes are connected.

It will time some time to find the exact valve, as most of the valves with the exact tag name will be faulty or unconnected. So, keep hiding and following the tubes until you find the right one.

How to Exit the Trail in Grind The Bad Apples Program - The Outlast Trials

After raising all the water levels, the clown boss enemy will start chasing you and/or your teammates. Dodge and evade him until the final trial area by following the assignment waymark. Wait for some time until the shuttle arrives and vacate the trial area.
