Do Footprints Count as Fingerprints in Phasmophobia?

I ain't 'fraid of no ghosts.

Phasmophobia has many methods that you can use to identify ghosts, one of which is UV fingerprints and footprints. However, there is confusion among the players about whether fingerprints and footprints are the same or not.

The answer to that is a little complicated since there are two types of footprints in the game, and the Ascension update changed things a little. To help you understand the difference, I will answer whether footprints count as fingerprints in Phasmophobia.

Are footprints the same as fingerprints?

The ascension update addressed this issue and made fingerprints and footprints the same evidence when you detect them using UV Light. Before this update, Ultraviolet evidence was called Fingerprints, meaning only fingerprints counted as evidence.

Furthermore, you will find footprints with the disturbed salt pile, which can be tricky. Most of the time, shining a UV light on the salt pile will allow you to find footprints, but if you cannot, that means you can not count that as evidence.

Which ghosts have footprints?

If you are wondering which ghosts will have footprints, the answer is that the ghosts with fingerprints will also have footprints. This means that everything is the same as before, but now you can add UV footprints as part of your evidence to identify the ghost.

Here is a list of ghosts who are said to have UV evidence, meaning they will leave footprints and fingerprints.
