How to identify a Myling in Phasmophobia – All Evidence and Tips

The Myling's Journal entry can be very misleading.

The Myling is a Ghost in Phasmophobia with two specific behaviors attached to it. A Parabolic Microphone has a chance of displaying a Myling's strange sounds to the player holding it. A Myling is said to be quieter when hunting, but this fact is misleading to players who aren't aware of how the mechanic works. This is how to identify a Myling in Phasmophobia.

The Myling's unique set of evidence includes EMF 5, Fingerprints, and Ghost Writing. The Ghost is also able to produce more noises in the Parabolic Microphone than other Ghost Types. The Myling's footsteps can also only be heard within a certain distance, making hiding from the Ghost very effective when determining what it is.

Myling Strengths and Weaknesses and what they mean in Phasmophobia

The Myling's Strengths and Weaknesses are written in the Journal as:

  • Strength - A Myling is known to be quieter when hunting.
  • Weakness - Mylings more frequently make paranormal sounds.

The Myling's Strength refers to the footsteps of the Ghost fading away faster than other Ghosts. At around 9 meters, the Myling's footsteps will begin to fade and eventually become inaudible further away. They fade away faster than any other Ghost, making it a dead giveaway when trying to identify the Myling.

The Myling's Weakness refers to its higher frequency in producing sounds when listening through the Parabolic Microphone. Every Ghost is able to make these sounds, but the Myling makes them more frequently than other Ghosts. The Banshee has a chance to make a very unique sound in the Parabolic Microphone that sets it apart from other Ghosts and shouldn't be mistaken for a Myling when heard.

Tips for identifying a Myling in Phasmophobia

The Myling doesn't exhibit any strange behavior unless players try listening to it through the Parabolic Microphone or listen to its footsteps while it Hunts. All Ghosts are able to produce paranormal sounds through the Parabolic Microphone, but the Myling will do it more frequently. As for the sound of the Myling's footsteps, players will have to wait for it to Hunt. While Hunting, players can hide near the Ghost Room and try to listen to when the footsteps of the Ghost are inaudible. If the Ghost's footsteps are still audible after 9 meters, it is not a Myling.
