Phasmophobia Voice Recognition Mode, explained

Talk to ghosts.

Phasmophobia is one of the most popular co-op paranormal games due to its clever mechanics, like the voice recognition mode. I'll tell you all about Phasmophobia's voice recognition mode below.

Should you use Vosk or Windows voice recognition in Phasmophobia?

Phasmophobia uses two methods of voice recognition in games: Vosk or Windows, both for the purpose of allowing a player to interact with potential ghosts and get responses from them. Players can use the Spirit Box, Ouija Box, and Monkey Paw via local or global voice chat.

Vosk is Phasmophobia's own voice recognition system, as it claims to understand all the languages the game is playable in, while Windows voice recognition is your standard Windows-only mode, supporting only a select handful of languages (including English).

Since Vosk has a history of not working well with other languages or simply having a tough time understanding voice commands in general, I recommend opting for Windows voice recognition instead, since it works the best out of the two.

All voice commands differ depending on how you say them or what you use; you could say them generally or use the lines specific to the Spirit Box, Ouija Box, and the Monkey Paw. Using any of these commands through voice recognition gives you a chance to receive a response or reaction from a ghost.

Saying these commands over voice recognition will give you a chance to trigger a reaction from a ghost. If, in any case, your voice chat isn't working, I recommend you tinker with your microphone settings to troubleshoot it, and if you don't feel like talking, you can always use text chat.
