When PlayStation gives players a network error, it's often filled with a handful of nonsensical numbers and confusing letters. It's a situation that's confusing to almost any regular player. Here's what PlayStation Error NP-34957-8 means and how to deal with the problem.
PlayStation Error NP-34957-8 indicates there is a server communication error. This error is common when the PlayStation Network is undergoing maintenance. Sony often informs users when there is scheduled maintenance on the servers on their server status page.
To check and see if the error is on PlayStation's end, head over to the official Network Service Status page, where users can find real-time updates. If any services are experiencing issues, there will be a notification at the top of the page with the following message:
- Some services are experiencing issues.
Players can examine what portions of the PlayStation Network are down by selecting the Details tab on any afflicted services. The functions impacted by a server outage and the platforms affected are all shown in this area.
In the case of a server outage, players must, unfortunately, wait until the problem has been fixed on Sony's side before attempting to use the services experiencing problems.
