Sony’s soon-to-be-announced subscription service will combine PlayStation Now & PlayStation Plus

A prospective Game Pass rival.

With rumblings of a new subscription service, codenamed Spartacus, dropping on the internet earlier this year, insiders continue to watch the industry and wait for more information on the supposed Game Pass Rvial from Sony Interactive Entertainment.

On March 25, Daniel Ahmad, Senior Analyst at Niko Partners, reported that Sony has plans to reveal more information on Spartacus next week. He states that Spartacus plans to merge PlayStation Now and PlayStation Plus in a new service. PlayStation Now is known for offering previous generation titles from the PS3 era like inFAMOUS for players to stream to their console.

The story comes directly from Bloomberg's Jason Schreier and Takashi Mochizuki, critical players in insider stories of the gaming industry.

Nibellion, a separate gaming insider, noted some highlights from the Schreier and Mochizuki piece, pointing out that Spartacus does not plan to offer first-party titles on day one with the service like God of War Ragnarok.

While there are no confirmations yet from Sony, we'll likely hear more on this in the coming days as the year's first quarter comes to a close.
