Are starters shiny locked in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

Should I be soft resetting the game or not?

It’s every trainers’ dream to have a rare Shiny Pokémon as their starter. It won’t affect any of its stats, but you do get a cooler looking Pokémon as your travel buddy. But will you be allowed to start with a shiny in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?

The answer is sadly yes. Starters, or at least the ones you’re given at the beginning of the game, can’t be shiny. However, you have the opportunity to shiny hunt for Cyndaqwil, Oshawott, and Rowlet in the overworld later in the game.

The three main legendaries, Arceus, Dialga, and Palkia, and also shiny locked.

Fortunately, shiny hunting in Pokémon Legends: Arceus is less frustrating than doing so in other mainline Pokémon games. There are no random encounters involved; you’ll readily see if the Pokémon is a shiny or not in the overworld.

You’ll even get a “cha-ching” sound effect whenever a shiny Pokémon spawns near you. So, make sure that you always have your volume set to max, so you don’t accidentally miss it when it happens. If you get too far from it, the Pokémon will disappear and respawn.
