Best Moves for Thundurus in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Choose the best for the "Bolt Strike" Pokémon.

Thundurus' best moves in Pokémon Legends: Arceus are Extrasensory, Crunch, Wildbolt Storm, and Thunder. We picked these moves based on Landorus' base stats and the S.T.A.B (same type attack bonus). This bonus yields a 50 percent increase in damage output if the chosen move shares the Pokémon's typing.

Thundurus' Most Powerful Moves

Since Thundurus is an electric and flying-type Pokémon, we'll take a closer look at its best moves in question. Extrasensory is a special psychic-type move learned at level 31 (mastered at 43) with an attack power of 80. Crunch is a physical dark-type move learned at level 41 (mastered at 54) with an attack power of 80—strong for a move that doesn't share the Pokémon's type. Wildbolt Storm is a special electric-type move, and Thundurus' last learned at level 52 (mastered at 65) with an attack power of 142.5 that takes full advantage of STAB.

Thunder is an electric-type move and Thundurus' best offensive option, learned at level 47 (mastered at 59), with a staggering power of 165. Like Wildbolt Storm, Thunder makes great use of the STAB, and their power is even stronger as special moves. After all, Thundurus' strength lies in its special attack power, but this Pokémon's raw attack stat might as well be just as good as the second highest. The rest, especially HP, come in either average or a bit below.

Thundurus' Best Stats

  • Stat Total: 580
    • HP: 79
    • Attack: 115
    • Defense: 70
    • Special Attack: 125
    • Special Defense: 80
    • Speed: 111

This means special attacks rather than physical attacks should usually be Thundurus' forte in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, but not by much. Both stats are incredibly high, and many other powerful moves such as the electric types Thunderbolt or even Giga Impact can be learned for a price from Zisu at the Training Grounds in Jubilife Village. Still, they either require an entire turn to recharge and would nullify any help Thundurus can provide with its good speed base stat, or they have annoying low PP.

Other purchased moves such as the electric-type Wild Charge or Hyper Beam are powerful moves and can be considered alternate options to Crunch or Extrasensory, but they either also have low PP or they don't offer the variety of moves that having a dark or psychic type would. You may find a great use for Thundurus is providing excellent coverage to get you through Hisui quickly and efficiently, over a longer amount of time, and with PP to spare.

Thundurus is a part of the legendary Generation V trio, including Tornadus and Landorus, and can be found during the post-game in heavy rain in the Cobalt Coastlands. Stun it with items while dodging its attacks over the water north of Sand's Reach. Thundurus' power is high, especially as a legendary Pokémon, and would be a great choice to strengthen your party while building out your Pokédex. Be sure to also take advantage of its best nature, which adds a further 10 percent attack increase.
