Catching Pokémon isn’t always a walk in the park, especially in such an active game like Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Throwing Poké Balls outside of battle is a great way to catch Pokémon, even if you aren’t ready to fight them yet. That said, getting too close to a dangerous Pokémon is not something you want to do either. If you want to catch a Pokémon that is outside of the focus range, there are a few tricks to hitting your target that you may want to know.
Learn to aim outside of the focus assist
The nearby focus is a great tool, but you shouldn’t rely on it entirely. There will be many times that the Pokémon you want is outside of that focus range. That doesn’t mean you can’t catch it; it just means you will have to aim manually. If you are finding that your aim is too sensitive or not sensitive enough, you can edit your camera sensitivity in the settings.
Aim above your target if they’re far away
Tossing a Poké Ball isn’t a straight line, it’s an arc. So, if your target is far away, rather than aiming directly for the Pokémon, you will want to aim above them. Adjust how high depending on the distance.
Having the high ground is valuable
If you can get the high ground over a field of Pokémon, or even just the singular Pokémon you want, it will be extremely beneficial. Aiming your Poké Balls from up on a medium-sized cliff down at your targets is a great way to practice and perfect long-distance aiming without too much worry of being attacked.
