All Water Type Pokémon Weaknesses and Counters

Water Type Pokémon are some of the strongest Types in the game due to them only having two weaknesses and four resistances. Offensively, very few Pokémon resist the damage of Water Type moves, making it easy to spam their Water STAB. They deal super effective damage to three Types and are a great option for Terastallization as well. What are the best counters to Water Types in Pokémon?

There are a lot of strong Water Type Pokémon that are hard to deal with like Azumarill and Dondonzo that can be countered with the right moves or Pokémon. When facing Water Type Pokémon, players should have Pokémon that will take reduced damage from their STAB. These Types all resist Water Type moves:

• Dragon - 1/2
• Grass - 1/2
• Water - 1/2

Water Type Pokémon tend to learn Ice Type moves as well, giving them a way to deal super effective damage to both Dragon and Ice Type Pokémon. Pokémon with Water Absorb or Storm Drain like Quagsire and Gastrodon deal with Water Type Pokémon very well because of their Water/Ground Typing.
