Pokémon Scarlet & Violet - Best Fire Pokémon to use

While there are many Fire-type Pokémon, some stand out more than others due to their stats, typings, abilities, and moves. We have compiled a list of the best Fire-type Pokémon you can find and catch below. Here are the best Fire Pokémon to use in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

1. Iron Moth

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Iron Moth is a Fire and Poison-type Paradox Pokémon based on Volcarona with incredible stats. Its strongest stats are Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. Additionally, its ability, Quark Drive, will raise its highest stat in Electric Terrain or if it is holding Booster Energy. This makes Iron Moth even more deadly and capable of knocking Pokémon out quickly. Here are Iron Moth's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 570
  • HP: 80
  • Attack: 70
  • Defense: 60
  • Special Attack: 140
  • Special Defense: 110
  • Speed: 110

2. Chi-Yu

Chi-Yu is a legendary Pokémon with the Fire and Dark-type combination and a strong spread of stats. It's high Special Attack and Speed make it a strong special sweeper, especially when paired with its ability Beads of Ruin, which lowers other Pokémon's Special Defense. This can be extremely powerful when combined with the move, Ruination, which halves an opposing Pokémon's HP. Here are Chi-Yu's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 570
  • HP: 55
  • Attack: 80
  • Defense: 80
  • Special Attack: 135
  • Special Defense: 120
  • Speed: 100

3. Skeledirge

First-time trainers who choose Fuecoco as their stater will eventually end up with the Fire and Ghost-type Pokémon Skeledirge. This final starter evolution is a powerhouse of a Pokémon with high HP, Defense, and Special Attack stats. It can be even more powerful if you get its hidden ability, Unaware, which allows it to ignore stat changes. It also learns its signature move, Torch Song, which can increase its lower attack. Here are Skeledirge's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 530
  • HP: 104
  • Attack: 75
  • Defense: 100
  • Special Attack: 110
  • Special Defense: 75
  • Speed: 66

4. Volcarona

Volcarona is a Bug and Fire-type Pokémon, making it doubly weak to Rock-type attacks. But it does have incredible stats, especially its Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. Additionally, Volcarona's Flame Body ability can inflict the burn status on physical attacks. Here are Volcarona's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 550
  • HP: 85
  • Attack: 60
  • Defense: 65
  • Special Attack: 135
  • Special Defense: 105
  • Speed: 100

5. Arcanine

Arcanine is a household name in the Pokémon series, and for a good reason. This pure Fire-type Pokémon has a great spread of stats, and thanks to Scarlet and Violet's remember feature, it can learn moves easier. It does have a somewhat lacking move pool which can make it hard to take advantage of its stats. Here are Arcanine's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 555
  • HP: 90
  • Attack: 110
  • Defense: 80
  • Special Attack: 100
  • Special Defense: 80
  • Speed: 95

6. Ceruledge

While Ceruledge just beats out Armarouge, this Fire and Psychic-type Pokémon is still a strong Fire-type Pokémon. Opposite of Ceruledge, it specializes in Special Attack and has better defensive stats but is somewhat slower. Additionally, Armarouge learns its signature move, Armor Cannon, at a late level, and it reduces its Defense and Special Defense on use. Here are Armarouge's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 525
  • HP: 75
  • Attack: 125
  • Defense: 80
  • Special Attack: 60
  • Special Defense: 100
  • Speed: 85

7. Armarouge

8. Scovillain

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

After almost 30, The Pokémon Company has finally made a Fire and Grass-type Pokémon in Scovillain. It has an equal Attack and Special Attack stat that allow it to be a physical or special attacker. Its Grass-type allows Scovillain to counter types it would normally be weak against, like Water, Rock, and Ground. Here are Scovillain's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 486
  • HP: 65
  • Attack: 108
  • Defense: 65
  • Special Attack: 108
  • Special Defense: 65
  • Speed: 75

9. Talonflame

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Talonflame is an extremely fast Fire and Flying-type Pokémon, allowing it to strike first. While its offensive stats are okay, it can learn the hidden ability Gale Wings, which gives priority to its Flying-type attacks. It does have a 2x weakness to Rock-type attacks, which, when combined with its okay defensive stats, leave it easily KOed by Rock Pokémom. Here are all Talonflame's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 499
  • HP: 78
  • Attack: 81
  • Defense: 71
  • Special Attack: 74
  • Special Defense: 69
  • Speed: 126

10. Coalossal

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Coalossal boasts an incredible spread of offensive and defensive stats but has an abysmal Speed. This typically means other Pokémon will act before it, which leaves it vulnerable to its 2x Water and Ground weaknesses. It does have the Steam Engine ability, which increases its Speed when hit by a Water or Fire-type attack, but this doesn't provide much considering its low starting Speed. Here are Coalossal's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 510
  • HP: 110
  • Attack: 80
  • Defense: 120
  • Special Attack: 80
  • Special Defense: 90
  • Speed: 30

Honorable Mention - Charizard

Charizard is one of the most iconic Pokémom, and while you can get it in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, it is only available through a special event until other means are available. In addition to this, it will have the Dragon Tera Type. Outside of this, Charizard relies on its high Special Attack and Speed to outspeed and defeat other Pokémon. Here are Charizard's stats in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

  • Total: 534
  • HP: 78
  • Attack: 84
  • Defense: 78
  • Special Attack: 109
  • Special Defense: 85
  • Speed: 100

We recommend choosing which Fire-type Pokémon you used based on your Pokémon and trying to avoid having multiple of the same types. Or, you can opt to use only Fire Pokémon and play through the game as a Fire-type specialist. Regardless of which you prefer, the Fire Pokémon above are all great choices.
