Exeggcute and Exeggutor may not be as fearsome as they look, but with the right nature, you can optimize them for battle. Here’s what you need to know about Exeggcute and Exeggutor’s nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
Which are the best natures for Exeggcute and Exeggutor in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?
The best natures for Exeggcute and Exeggutor depend on the regional variant Exeggcute that you have. Is it the Kanto or the Alolan one? The answer differs, but not as much as you think. There are also types of battles to think about.
Best natures for Kanto Exeggcute and Exeggutor
- Bold (+Defense, -Attack)
- Calm (+Sp. Defense, -Attack)
Kanto Exeggutor is a Grass/Psychic Pokémon with a really high Sp. Attack stat and not so much for anything else. That second bit is important. Usually, Pokémon with high offensive stats have equally high Speeds, which Exeggcute and Exeggutor do not enjoy. This means they have the potential to be OTK’ed, so bulk them up with Bold or Calm.
Best natures for Alolan Exeggcute and Exeggutor
- Bold (+Defense, -Attack)
- Calm (+Sp. Defense, -Attack)
- Impish (+Defense, -Sp. Attack)
- Careful (+Sp. Defense, -Sp. Attack)
Alolan Exeggutor is a Grass/Dragon Pokémon with roughly the name stat distributions as Kanto Exeggutor. The only difference is the fact that they also have a high Attack stat (they took more points from its Speed), which means you’re free to build this one either as a Physical or Special attacker.
It’s still slow as heck and will probably not survive the wrath of Speedy Pokémon, so please give it the defense it needs… unless you’re in a double battle with a teammate that knows Trick Room.

- Modest (+Sp. Attack, -Attack)
If you’re taking Exeggutor with you in a double battle, then go ham and throw Modest at it. Just be sure your high-speed teammate knows a move called Trick Room. Trick Room switches the turn order of all Pokémon in the field. And with Exeggutor’s snail-like Speed, it’ll immediately go next. You now get the opportunity to hit ‘em hard!
How to choose the best nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
Choosing the best nature for any Pokémon is all about use. Think about the moves you’re going to give it, the type of content you’re clearing with it, and the stats it has. They all matter!
