Best Nature for Gouging Fire in The Indigo Disk Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Entei just got more relentless with one of the most broken moves.

Gouging Fire is an overpowered Paradox counterpart of Entei, sporting an even more daunting and menacing look. In this guide, I'll discuss some of the best Natures for Gouging Fire in The Indigo Disk Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

What is the best Nature for Gouging Fire in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The best Nature for Gouging Fire in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the following:

  • Adamant (+Attack, -Sp. Atk)
  • Jolly (+Speed, -Sp. Atk)

Gouging Fire has one of the most overpowered moves so far in The Indigo Disk, Burning Bulwark. It protects Gouging Fire from any attacks while burning any opponents who had physical contact with Gouging Fire (i.e. physical attacks when Burning Bulwark is activated).

Since Gouging Fire has the Burning Bulwark Ability, I decided to invest more into his monstrous Attack stat; hence, I recommend you choose Adamant. On the other hand, Gouging Fire also has a decent speed stat, so you can opt to increase it even further with a Jolly Nature. This allows Gouging Fire to instantly put up the Burning Bulwark, instantly protecting itself from the get-go.

How to choose the best Nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Choosing Nature in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet can oftentimes be more intimidating than it has to be, but I recommend you follow the rule of thumb when it comes to choosing the best Nature for your Pokémon:

  • You should check the highest stat of your Pokémon. A good indicator of what your Pokémon's role should be in your team.
  • Analyze its moveset and learnable moves through other means (e.g. TMs and Relearn old moves option). Your Pokémon's moveset will dictate its primary role for your team.

In this case, Gouging Fire has a fantastic defense move, while at the same time, it has high attack stats, meaning its primary role should be a damage dealer. Doubling down on further boosts in attack will not only give you the best chance of one-shotting opponents but will also put your opponent on the defensive side due to Gouging Fire's Burning Bulwark, allowing Gouging Fire to be relentless in unleashing attacks.
