Best Nature for Groudon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Groudon is a beast for Tera Raids

Although there are a lot of Legendaries in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, Groudon still presents itself as a phenomenal addition to your team if you know the best Nature for it. One of the most infamous Legendaries in the Pokémon franchise is Gen III's Groudon.

What is the best Nature for Groudon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

The best Nature for Groudon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the following:

  • Adamant (+Attack, -Sp. Attack)
  • Jolly (+Spe, -Sp. Attack)
  • Mild (+Sp. Attack, - Defense)

Groudon has one of the highest-ranking attacks in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet; hence, you should utilize the stat to your advantage by going with Adamant. Using Swords Dance in tandem with Adamant further increases Groudon's attack, giving it the ability to potentially one-shot enemies.

On the other hand, Jolly is also a great choice, considering you would almost always want to use Swords Dance first/Will-O-Wisp (depending on the matchup) to increase your attack or lower the enemy's attack.

The last Nature I recommend for Groudon would be Mild, as it increases your Special Attack stat. Although Groudon is not on the level of Gardevoir, it can still dish out decent damage with its special attacks.

Lastly, for EVs, I recommend prioritizing HP and Attack, then Defense. Groudon already has decent defense stats, and coupling with an item like the Shell Bell + the buff in HP allows it to sustain most attacks.

How to choose the best Nature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

If you want to choose the best Nature for your Pokémon, you should always look at the best stat your Pokémon has and its moveset (both learnable through TMs and leveling up).

In this case, I built Groudon to complement its S-tier Attack stat, which is why I chose Adamant. On the other hand, I also thought about using Jolly for an increased Speed stat due to the way it complements Groudon's moveset, which involves support moves like Will-O-Wisp and Swords Dance.

Some trainers may overthink about getting the most "optimized" Nature and EVs, these two elements should still be your foundation when choosing the best Nature for a specific Pokémon.
