Best Slowbro Build for Greninja Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Slowbro is ready to raid.

There are many Pokémon to choose from when it comes to the 7-Star Greninja Tera Raid. However, you cannot just bring any Pokémon into the raid, as it is incredibly challenging. Slowbro is an excellent choice, especially if you built one for the Cinderace raid. This may leave you wondering what the best Slowbro build is for the Greninja Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

The Best Slowbro Build for Greninja Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Slowbro has many advantages over Greninja. Its Water/Psychic-type combination will reduce the damage that Ice Beam, Hydro Pump, and Gunk Shot deal. While Night Slash is super effective, Slowbro's high Defense and HP will allow it to take a few hits, especially if you use moves to heal or boost Slowbro's Defense. Here is our recommended build for Slowbro in the 7-Star Greninja Tera Raid.

  • Nature: For nature, we recommend either the Bold or Modest natures for Slowbro. Bold will increase Slowbro's defense and allow it to tank more Night Slashes. On the other side, Modest will boost its Special Attack and let Stored Power hit even harder.
  • Ability: It truly doesn't matter what ability you give Slowbro for the Greninja raid, as none of them will trigger based on Greninja's moves and the rules of the Tera Raids. So you can use a Slowbro with the Oblivious, Own Tempo, or Regenerator ability.
  • Moves:
    • Stored Power: Stored Power is Slowbro's offensive move. It is powered up by stat increases such as Nasty Plot and Iron Defense, boosting its attack while you raise Slowbro's stats.
    • Nasty Plot: Nasty Plot is a must-have as it will raise Slowbro's Special Attack by two stages. The boost to Special Attack will also multiply Stored Power's damage, making it extremely useful.
    • Slack Off: Slack Off is a healing move that will restore up to half of Slowbro's health. Slowbro has great bulk, but keeping this move in your pocket is great, especially if Greninja lands a critical hit.
    • Iron Defense: Greninja will have Night Slash, so Iron Defense will increase Slowbro's Defense and reduce the amount of damage it deals. It will also power up Stored Power.
  • Effort Values (EV): For EVs, you should invest 252 in HP and 252 in Special Attack. The remainder can be placed into Defense. This will give Slowbro increased bulk regardless of what attack Greninja uses, and the Special Attack boost will increase Stored Powers' strength.
  • Held Item: For Slowbro's held item, we recommend Leftovers or Life Orb. Life Orb will further boost Slowbro's damage output and allow it to easily one-shot Greninja. On the other hand, Leftovers will allow Slowbro to passively regain HP throughout the match and mitigate the need to use Slack Off.
  • Tera Type: We recommend using the Psychic Tera Type as this will increase the amount of damage Stored Power will do. You will have to worry about Greninja's Night Slash, but Slowbro's HP, Defense, and Iron Defense move should allow it to survive long enough to get the KO.

How to use the Best Slowbro Build for Greninja Tera Raid in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

We recommend starting off the Tera Raid by using Iron Defense three times to give Slowbro more resistance to Greninja's Night Slash. Once you have this up, you should start using Nasty Plot to increase Slowbro's stats and boost Stored Power. Keep an eye out for Greninja resetting stats; you will need to repeat this process afterward.

Use Slack Off as needed to keep Slowbro's health up, but primarily you should use Iron Defense and Nasty Plot to boost Slowbro. After using both three times, use Stored Power, and you should be able to defeat Greninja in one or two hits.
