Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are largely open-world adventures, allowing you to travel around Paldea at your leisure after completing the opening tutorial. However, the Pokémon you'll face in gym battles do not scale with your own Pokémon's level, so there is a particular order that you might want to follow.
Which gym should you challenge first in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?
Here's a handy table to help you choose the order in which you would like to challenge gyms in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet:
|Gym Name||Leader||Recommended |
|Katy||Level 15||South Province (Area Two)|
|Brassius||Level 17||East Province (Area One)|
|Iono||Level 24||East Province (Area Two)|
|Kofu||Level 30||West Province (Area Two)|
|Larry||Level 36||West Province (Area Three)|
|Ryme||Level 42||North Province (Area One)|
|Tulip||Level 45||South Province (Area Six)|
|Grusha||Level 48||North Province (Area One)|
There are a few big gaps in level recommendations between some gym leaders, like Iono and Kofu. Don't be afraid to take a break, explore in a different direction, hunt for a Titan Pokémon, or challenge a Team Starfall base.
