Auto battles are a new battle system in which the Pokémon that follows you in the field can be designated to battle Pokémon on its own. It will either battle the Pokémon you target or seek them out on its own. Pokémon can still earn experience and items through auto-battling, which is a good way to save time when grinding.

Auto battles and gathering items alone are only two new features in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. You can watch the Seek Your Treasure trailer on the official Pokémon Company YouTube channel to see these in action.
