Shiny Pokémon are rare versions of Pokémon in Pokémon go that have modified looks. They are called shiny because they generally have a slight sheen added to them that makes them stand out more than the normal versions. This guide explains how to get Shiny Darkrai, the Pitch-Black Pokémon.
Shiny Rates
Apart from the Pokémon that don't have shiny versions in the game, every Pokémon has a base shiny rate assigned to it that tells you how often you'll see a shiny version of them under normal circumstances. Darkrai is a Mythic Pokémon, so its shiny rate is about 1 in 20; so, for every 20 Darkrai raids you do, you'll probably only see one shiny version.

How to Get Darkrai
There is no way to force a Shiny Darkrai to appear. Unfortunately, the best way to get a Shiny Darkrai is to increase the number of times you encounter them. Since Darkrai is a Mythic Pokémon that is rarely in the game, this can be incredibly difficult. However, we have some tips.
- Plan for a lot of raids. Twenty or more is ideal. It's a good idea to be in an area with a lot of gyms on a day where you know Darkrai will be featured in Raids. The more gyms you have in your vicinity, the more likely one of them hosts a Darkrai. With Darkrai's shiny rate at 5 percent, you'll have good odds of catching one if you do more raids.
- Watch out for Raid Hours and other Special Events. Currently, no Raid Hours are planned for Darkrai. However, Niantic usually gives players ample notice before they host one. Raid Hours are times where the amount of 5-Tier Raids increases, further boosting the possibility of seeing a Shiny Darkrai.
