Pokémon GO A Cosmic Companion – All Quest Steps & Rewards

Niantic has finally added Cosmog to Pokémon GO during the Season of Light. Cosmog is a special legendary Pokémon in the series because, unlike almost all other legendaries, it can evolve into more powerful forms. To get Cosmog and its evolutions, players will need to work through and complete the Research questline titled A Cosmic Companion.

A Cosmic Companion - All Quests & Rewards

The quests for A Cosmic Companion questline are a bit different than other Research quests because they are being released incrementally. This means that players who have been playing since the release of the first quest step in A Cosmic Companion can not complete the questline fully until the final step is released, likely leading to Cosmog evolving into Lunala/Solgaleo.

Quest 1/? (Available Thursday, September 1, 2022):

• Catch 15 Pokémon - Five Razz Berries
• Catch 15 Pokémon that are Psychic-type - Five Pinap Berries
• Make 10 Successful Curveball Throws - Encounter with a Staryu

Reward: An encounter with a Cosmog, 1,000 XP, and 500 Stardust.

Quest 2/? (Available Thursday, September 1, 2022):

• Give three Treats to your Buddy Pokémon - Encounter with a Woobat
• Earn 10 Candy by walking with your Buddy Pokémon - Encounter with a Staryu
• Catch 15 Pokémon that are Psychic-type - Encounter with a Munna

Reward: One Poffin, 2,000 XP, and 500 Stardust.

Quest 3/? (Available Thursday, September 1, 2022):

• Earn 15 Hearts with your Buddy Pokémon - Encounter with a Ralts
• Send Gifts to 10 Friends - Encounter with a Staryu
• Catch 20 different Pokémon (must be different species) - 25 Pokéballs

Reward: Five Pinap Berries, 3,000 XP, and 1,000 Stardust.

Quest 4/? (Available Thursday, September 1, 2022):

• This task will be skipped due to Professor's Research - 789 XP

Reward: 25 Cosmog Candy, 3,000 XP, and 1,000 Stardust.

Quest 5/? (Available Wednesday, October 5, 2022):

• Complete five Field Research Tasks - Encounter with a Baltoy
• Power up a Pokémon 10 times (can be different Pokémon) - Encounter with a Staryu
• Evolve Cosmog - 1,000 Stardust

Reward: 25 Cosmog Candy, 1,000 XP, and 750 Stardust.

Quest 6/? (Available Wednesday, October 5, 2022):

• Complete 10 Field Research Tasks - Encounter with an Elgyem
• Power up a Pokémon 10 times (can be different Pokémon) - Encounter with a Staryu
• Walk 5km - Encounter with a Girafarig

Reward: 25 Cosmog Candy, 2,000 XP, and 750 Stardust.

Quest 7/? (Available Wednesday, October 5, 2022):

• Earn 15 Hearts with your Buddy Pokémon - Encounter with a Kirlia
• Hatch an Egg - Encounter with a Staryu
• Catch 20 different Pokémon (must be different species) - 25 Great Balls

Reward: 10 Poké Balls, 3,000 XP, and 1,500 Stardust.

Quest 8/? (Available Wednesday, October 5, 2022):

• This task will be skipped due to Professor's Research - 789 XP

Reward: 50 Cosmog Candy, 3,000 XP, and 1,500 Stardust.

Tips for A Cosmic Companion Questline

Before starting and working through A Cosmic Companion questline, players can use these tips to help make the process easier.

• Be sure to use Adventure Incense daily to help complete the quests faster. Some quests, like the ones that require players to complete a certain number of catches, can be greatly aided by the Adventure Incense.
• Save a smaller Egg, like a 2km or 5km Egg, to hatch during the seventh Step in the questline. Having a smaller Egg will mean players can hatch it sooner and move on to the next step.
• Players will need to send gifts to friends, which can be a problem for many players just starting out. If you need friends, you can use our Pokémon GO Friend Code List to find other active players to help you complete this step faster.
