People who pre-ordered the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl double pack at Target were supposed to be rewarded with a bonus Pokémon-theme journal that has the three Sinnoh starters—Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup. However, it is now being reported that people who pre-order are receiving emails detailing that the journal has been canceled. As an apology, Target will be giving out $20 electronic gift cards to those who pre-ordered the double pack.
Wario64 reported this on Twitter, retweeting another tweet that showed an image of the email. More people in the comments have also claimed to have received the same email. If you had the double pack of Diamond and Pearl pre-order in Target, you probably should check your email to see if your order has been canceled.

The only reason for the cancelation as described in the email was due to "supply chain challenges and delays." Many places, including superstores like Target, are having difficulty keeping inventory in-stocked due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Printing paper has been one of the supplies that have been reported to be running low, which could explain the sudden cancelation of the Diamond and Pearl Journal.
It's not known at this time if Target will ever resupply the Pokémon journals as separate orders in the future, or if the journals will forever be out-of-stock.
The journal isn't the only item promoting the upcoming Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl—there will also be a limited-time Diamond and Pearl Switch Lite releasing on November 5. Read that and more on Pro Game Guides.
