Evolution Stones are the heart and soul of every Pokémon game (aside from the Pokéball). Players can use them to evolve a Pokémon before they naturally can or just plain evolve Pokémon that really need one. While Evolution Stones can be dug in the Grand Underground, they’re rare, especially pre-Hall of Fame, so it’s more efficient to search for the stone you need in the overworld.
Here’s where to find every Evolution Stone in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
1. Fuego Ironworks (Fire Stones)
You can reach Fuego Ironworks by Surfing to the left of the bridge at Route 205 and following the river. Enter the only building in the area. There are two Fire Stones in Fuego Ironworks: one in a Pokéball on the upper right corner of the factory, and another behind the big machine in the middle.
2. Floaroma Meadow, North (Leaf Stone)
While you can access Floaroma Meadow from Floaroma Town, the Leaf Stone is located in a separate area further north. You can reach it by Surfing in the same direction as Fuego Ironworks. But instead of getting off on the northern coast, get off on the south. Enter the Meadow entrance below.
3. Route 213 (Water Stone)
Fly to Pastoria City and exit east. Use Surf once you see the ocean and enter the tiny gap between the rocks shown in the photo above. Follow the route until you come across a sailor and shallow water you can walk on. Get off the shallow water and Surf again on its north. The Water Stone is in a Pokéball past a male and female swimmer.
4. Sunyshore City (Thunder Stone)
Get on the overpass and head east to where the guy interested in Pokémon nature lives. The Thunder Stone is below the stairs beside his house.

5. Whiteout Cave, Snowpoint Underground (Dawn Stone)
Go underground from Snowpoint City and head to the bottom-most right room. You will find a Dawn Stone here.
6. Route 225 (Dawn Stone)
Fly to the Fight Area after you get the National Pokédex and run north to reach Route 225. Players can reach the Dawn Stone with Rock Climb.
7. Team Galactic Warehouse, Veilstone City (Dusk Stone)
After the events at Lake Acuity, the game will take you to Veilstone City as you work to uncover Team Galactic’s plans. One of the grunts will drop a keycard, and you can finally access this previously locked area in the warehouse. It’s where you got Fly.
8. Bogsunk Cavern, Sunyshore Underground (Dusk Stone)
From Sunyshore City, go underground and run to the largest room. There’s a Dusk Stone in there.

9. Victory Road (Dusk Stone)
After getting to the National Pokédex, you can finally access this cave in the Victory Road a man used to block. The Dusk Stone is hidden behind a Strength puzzle.
10. Route 228 (Shiny Stone)
After getting the National Pokédex, You can reach route 228 by flying the Resort Area and moving north. The Shiny Stone is easily reached with a bike.
11. Spacious Cavern, Battle Area Underground (Shiny Stone)
The fastest way to get to this cavern is to go underground in the Fight Area (accessible post-Hall of Fame). Head East, then head north.
12. Iron Island (Shiny Stone)
You can access Iron Island by taking a boat from Canalave City. After you finish Riley’s escort quest, take the platform down and head to the exit. It’s in the only Pokéball in the last room. You can’t miss it!
Sun Stone and Moon Stone locations
Unfortunately, you can only find Sun Stones and Moon Stones by digging in the Grand Underground. Sun Stones are fairly common post-Hall of Fame, but you might have some trouble finding Moon Stones. Take advantage of the sparkles you pick up from Digletts. Dig when the gauge on the left is at a full 40/40 for increased rare finds.
