Chapter 5: Encroaching Darkness Battle Guide – Triangle Strategy

Make your way through a bloody siege!

Triangle Strategy's Chapter V: Encroaching Darkness situates your team at Whiteholm Castle, where you must get Roland to the yellow squares at the castle's entrance. Though defeating all enemies as they appear in reinforcements will lead to victory and more experience, all you need to do to win is see Prince Roland safely to his family.

You may want both Geela and Narve or Hossabara as healers, if you have them. Since you'll be dividing your team on either sides of the pool, balance each side with units that can handle their end of the battle. Each side of the water should have a heavy hitter, such as Serenoa or Roland. Also, consider the tactical advantage of Hughette, who is able to fly high and pick off enemies from the wooden planks above.

Keep Benedict around Serenoa and Roland, and you'll be able to use his Raging Bull ability to raise Serenoa's already formidable attack. As you begin to break through the first barricade, level-seven Aesfrosti Bowmen will climb the wooden planks and target your team, so have your strongest physical attackers go for the spiked barriers while your magic wielders take out the bowmen.

Note that it's better to use ice magic on the spiky barricades rather than burn them, especially since the fire will remain, and you can't go through without taking damage. Once you do, try to rain down your brute force on any one enemy unit. This way, you have the chance of defeating them in a single turn. Once you get past the first barrier, you can also try using Anna to poison any of the two Aesfrosti Shieldbearers or two Aesfrosti Blades for her first command. Then, use Take Cover to make her invisible, and continue in that vein with her as you see fit.

Soon after you breach the first barrier, four more level-seven Aesfrosti Blade reinforcements will appear far away at each side. The next reinforcement, as you get farther along, will be a level-seven Aesfrosti Healer, along with two more Blades in the squares right ahead of your destination.

The last reinforcement will include four level-seven Bowmen and two level-nine Shieldbearers. Since your objective is to get Roland to the yellow squares clear across the other end of the stage, keep Geela close to him, and use Benedict's Bulwark ability to keep his defense up.

As with much of Triangle Strategy, you can choose to be ambitious and go after the spoils and experience of defeating every unit, or you can simply get the prince where he needs to be. Either way, the game will prompt you to speed it along—but remember that Seranoa's Delaying Strike ability will delay enemy units by one turn, so it's worth using every time.
